About 47% of black American men do not work. About 43% of white American men do not work. Is there any wonder so many are poor? Minimum wage at 40 hours a week puts you above poverty level for a single person. A childless couple, each working 40 hours a week at minimum wage earns twice the federal poverty level for two. You have to have a lot of children to be poor in America if you work at least 40 hours a week. Government studies show that poor Americans do NOT work 40 hours a week. Half of all households in America receive a check from the government. Poverty is the result of laziness, unless the person is really disabled.
