Decompression
No girl ever looks twice anymore,
as I waste away in my van
trundling to work, with my
pickling liver and Yogi Bear eyes.
I plod each day like a Sasquatch
with a sore head
Some say I should slow down,
but I was born to run, Springsteen
forever in my mind as Clarence
serenades, his sax a seedy low key
in each of my night time stupors.
I have to get out, and get out
I will in one way or another?
I choose the death of a thousand
cuts, my life whittled from drugs
and alcohol, and a heart that’s
scarred by the turning away
of loved ones.

I actually think this is really good, but I like poems that reflect feelings/emotions. The descriptions make me feel so many things. I get a true sense of how he views himself and what's going on inside his heart and mind.
And I would look twice!

It's very good, Martin. And that's because -- as all the best poetry -- it comes from the heart. Oh and I would look twice, also. ;-)

Okay, here is my poem/prose for day two,
it's the best I can do.....
Water Falls
Life giving waters evaporate
spill out
stealing breath from the one I covet.
Hope expires
along with a legacy.
Threads of love woven together
unravel to nothing
that matters to anyone
except for me.
I'm betrayed by this temple
that rejects the heart beating within.
I'm forsaken by a God
that steals this gift
because He can.
Will my arms brake
from never holding you?
Yes.
Will my heart ache
from never nurturing you?
Yes.
No one will take your place.
There isn't another like you.
But I will find my masterpiece
again.
I will hold you tight
so you won't slip away.
Capture you some way
and love you eternally
unconditionally,
because
you belong to me.
