Has anyone else noticed that the Christmas music no longer stops at midnight on December 25th? We're now at the 28th, and it's still playing on the radio! I was in the shopping mall yesterday, and was greeted by the same tired old Christmas tunes they've been playing since the day after Halloween!!! Someone wished me a "Merry Christmas" yesterday, and I was quite appalled. "But Christmas is over," I said, with desperation in my voice. "But, it's still the Christmas season," was the (defensive) response. Help! I mean I was always concerned that it might never end. Now it seems as if this could indeed be the case. The aficionados have often lamented that it isn't Christmas every day of the year. Well hey, I think they just got their wish! And just so it's clear, I am talking about the retailers here and their gross commercialism which has exploited a peaceful and beautiful Christian celebration turning it into a three ring circus fuelled by greed. So much so that some churches were actually discussing the possibility of moving the religious observances to a different date to get away from all the hoopla. Rant over.

UGH, I can't stand the radio these days... If I hear frosty the snowman one more time in the next 11 months someone is going to have to fetch me from the bell tower and pull the AK47 out of my clawed hand!

I work in retail and have to spend 5 to 11 hours each day listening to Carols! Not to mention having to wish everyone I encounter a "Merry Christmas" and wear a ridiculous elf hat to appease my Boss. Then, of course, having to promote every single special as if it's a fantastic Christmas gift given in the "spirit" of the season. Gah! If Jesus had a grave he'd be spinning in it! (Sorry if any one takes that as blasphemy, not my intention.)

I sympathise with you, Bubblegum, I truly do. At this time of year, people who work in retail are on the front lines. I've often wondered how they stand it. They deserve a medal for bravery.

Oh I wish I could use earphones, but part of my job is to actually engage the customer in a conversation. So it's no use, plus my Boss is a little vindictive, if he has to suffer through them, we all do Thanks Lily! I often think the same, especially after a day of abuse.
