I used to get a couple colds every year. I then started taking a daily multivitamin. No more colds. Well, two minor ones in the last 6 years which didn't interfere with anything.
If your body has the normal amounts of vitamins and minerals, it is usually equipped to handle normal infections. Food today, and our diets, generally just don't cut it.
Of course some are exposed to certain environments where you are just bombarded with exposure, but vitamins still help.
Sore throats. I never believed it until I tried it. Throat bacteria dies in a constantly wet environment. Suck on a candy, Werther's Originals are great, that is thick and coats well. One after another. A whole bag if you have to. Don't let any time go by without having one in your mouth. And the sore throat will be gone in a much shorter time than you would believe. I cured one in a day that way.
Of course warm salt water works too, but not as enjoyable or as fast.
For those who can handle it, although I've never tried it, take a strong alcohol, like a 151 proof rum, hold some in the back of your throat until you can't handle it anymore, then spit it out.
If that doesn't kill the bacteria, then it will make them much easier to get along with. ;D

Good advice. We should also make sure we're getting enough sleep and rest, especially during the miserable winter season. Brrr...

Good advice! I usually have some brandy tehehe. But then I developed the taste when I was a kid. But it is a good excuse, and it's great during winter. Warms up your chest very well.

My sister in Ireland swears by taking half an onion and covering it with honey then allowing it to sit until a juice forms on-top of the honey. She says to drink the juice only. I have no idea if it works however... For body aches and pains I use Mint oil. Rub a few drops on the problem area and voila all better. I gave this trick to my friends wife who was going through daily dialysis and had horrid back pains from the air bubbles it left. And now she stocks up on it. Works well for Sprains, strains, carpal tunnel, creaky joints, and it goes well in tea or coffee, which will sooth an upset tummy. If you are stuffed up a few drops in a pot or bowl of steaming water usually does the trick just inhale the minty steam and have a tissue or three handy. It can also be used safely in a cold or warm air vaporizer for children, and adults.
