Richard, it's always best to use a pdf converter program. Saving as a Word doc from an Adobe pdf creates huge file sizes with a lot of extraneous background stuff that will make Word harder to use. Remember when pasting into Word from any other program, ALWAYS paste using paste special/unformatted text. If you want to see what your epub file will look like, open the word doc in a word processor called Atlantis (costs $35 after the initial 30 day trial is up) and save as ebook. Atlantis is very similar to the old simpler versions of word. Just remember that when you're installing choose only rtf files to associate with Atlantis otherwise every time you want to open a word doc Atlantis will magically appear. Go to www.atlantiswordprocessor.com/en/downloads.htmIf anyone has any formatting questions, let me know. I shall cruise by the site daily...

I'm currently waiting for my novel to be approved for premium stats on Smashwords. I've loved the service so far!
I'm Kyle by the way!

"if you don't have the time or patience to do it yourself, send an email to list@smashwords.com to request "Mark's List" of low-cost ($40+) Smashwords ebook formatters and cover designers." Here is one from the list: www.gopublished.com/p/services.html
