Rule #1: You can never have too many copies of your WIP. Rule #2: Don't trust your harddrive. If it crashes, you're sunk.
I take ample copies on CDs and floppies, and have a safe deposit box in which to store them. I also send copies to email accounts such as Google and Yahoo at the end of each writing day. That's handy too, because you can check back to see the story's progress on any date you wish.
