I thought it would be helpful for some warnings, and the reason for those warnings to be put up on this board.
I know there is one forum which has a whole sub-forum devoted to exposing Publish America.
I looked into Publish America, even reading their own forum, and here are some observations I noted:
Members complained about not selling books, not getting the correct amount of royalties (some said they were told by family and friends they bought the book, yet nothing showed up in their account), and less than what they expected in marketing support.
If you note the way PA sets their prices (usually $20-$25) it is a wonder they sell anything.
Author House is another publisher who has been reviewed with questionable accounting practices.
These two avenues can look appealing to a new author because of no cost up front, but you may pay for it later.
While I used CreateSpace for my latest novel, (only cost $39 for upgrading to pro-plan) and less than $100 for formatting to Kindle, you keep your rights and can still solicit an agent or publisher anytime.
If there are any other warnings for publishers, or other related services which may have some questionable practices, feel free to list them with a brief explanation of why you do so. We don't have to trash businesses, but caution can be helpful.

Didn't see it Lily, or I would have just added this post there.
It is useful information because many unpublished authors know very little about the game and the threats.
Like me.
