Has anyone noticed how the ads follow you around on the Internet? I was looking at vacuum cleaners earlier this evening, and now every site I visit, including this one, has ads for...you guessed it, vacuum cleaners! And yet so many people still seem to believe that they can browse incognito on the Internet. Yikes! It's probably about the most public place there is!

In researching elements for my book (after all, believe it or not this is a creative writing forum) I needed a ring for my lead character made from platinum as a setting for a specific gold African coin. I found a similar one on the first Bing search.
The next day as I signed onto a creative writing forum (that I no longer patronize) an ad for a jewelry outlet popped up as a banner advertisement picturing the exact ring.
Yikes, my wife uses the same computer. It's a good thing my lead character doesn't have a 'yen' for nubile Asian women looking for a husband!

I just cleared out my cookies, and the vacuum cleaners have disappeared. ;D You should also check out this site, which can detect which advertisers are following you, and put a stop to it. www.aboutads.info/choices/
