abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2012/12/newspaper-publishes-gun-owners-names-and-addresses/I understand the knee-jerk reaction is to be upset over the obvious political bent of this paper, but I think it rather serves the gun owners. Since the criminals now have a better idea who is armed- people who will likely use force to protect themselves and their families- they can move on to easier targets. The defenseless people sitting at home who will have to wait on the police long after their troubles are over.

Even although these records are in the public domain, to broadcast them in this manner is a blatant invasion of privacy. There may be legal grounds for a class-action lawsuit.

Could you image the organizations and lawsuits involved if they did this for other issues like: People who are here on work Visas, green cards, registered Democrat or Republican, or Libertarian, etc.?

Yeah it was shocking. I think that many of these people will be moving soon, like you said you never know whom is hiding for a good reason. Guns don't kill people people with guns kill people... When a drunk hits and kills someone we don't blame the cars do we? This whole gun debate is utterly sad. We really need to start looking out for each other rather than only caring about ourselves, I think that if we were to start doing that we would find that crimes committed by the mentally ill would reduce at a good clip. Mental health care in this country, (I can't speak for others,) is appalling to say the most. There has to be a better way! Do we revert to having only one parent working? Hand out breeding licenses? I'm not sure what the answer is but it has become clear that what we are doing is not working.

A good start would be to ban all those violent video games, movies, etc., which glorify violence. When kids are exposed to this culture of violence day in and day out, we shouldn't be surprised when they grow up to be violent. After all, they think it's the "cool" thing to do. There is also a definite correlation between what is happening today and the all out attack on the family, and traditional values, by special interest groups. Now anything goes, and the result has been moral decay on a scale not witnessed since Ancient Greece and Rome. And hey, we know what happened to them, and why. I believe we're now witnessing the Decline and Fall of the Western Empire. patriotupdate.com/articles/manning-the-barricades-for-virtue-and-america/

I like the gore movies, but I'm an adult... What I can't stand is trash like Jersey Shore! Now talk about the fall of civilization those freak shows ruin humanity for everyone.

Ya' know, if that article was published in Wisconsin, I'd be one of those addresses. I hold a Wisconsin CCW license, and I carry everyday.
To quote King Leonidas in confronting Xerxes, "Molon labe."
Translated, it refers to Xerxes' demand that the Spartans surrender their weapons. Leonidas responded, "Come and take them."
I expect sniveling liberals, a draconian interpretation of the Bill of Rights and Federalist Papers, politicians with an agenda, and newspapers who will derive headlines from any constructed issue.
For example, the supposed 'ban' on semi-automatic rifles expired 8 years ago. However, Dianne Feinstein has done or said nothing during those years, nor has she drafted a bill. However she is sure working the room on the backs of dead children.
So let the whiners come. Self defense is still legal here. They're not armed, I am.
