"I didn't want to have a controversy within the church, and I didn't want a controversy to affect the wedding of Charles and Te'Andrea. I wanted to make sure their wedding day was a special day," Weatherford told WLBT-TV in Jackson."
Well, I think you have a controversy now. The few members who allegedly instigated this must be the money backers of the church. Why else would this pastor 'cave in'?
It falls on his shoulders. He made the decision.
I recommend to this couple to go elsewhere.

You're right, Richard, this is all down to the pastor. He should have stood up to the bigots. Of course, as you say, the church is probably dependent on them for financial support. I really can't believe something like this could happen in this day and age, and among people who profess to be Christians. Christ taught love your neighbour, and skin colour was never mentioned. I do think there's a possibility that this church's bigoted members are well-known, and that the black couple set them up for the furore that followed. If this is indeed the case, then more power to them. That sort of thing should be exposed. slatest.slate.com/posts/2012/08/03/mississippi_governor_responds_to_church_block_of_black_wedding_calls_it_unfortunate.html
