Thanks for all the useful links, Richard. I was wondering since your book is in print, have you contacted all your local book stores and asked if they would put a copy on their shelves, and perhaps arrange a book signing?

With Borders closing and all that the future looks even grimmer for traditional publishing. If Stephen King was starting out today he'd end up either self pubbed or going with a diminuntive ebook pub. No big bucks -- if any -- either way. Think I'll take up another pastime.

Lily, I'm going to contact the indie book stores, other than that no.
I am also going to contact the several libraries in the 2 nearby counties and see if they will accept a donated copy to put on their shelves.
I've heard that if they get enough attention at the library, they may order more and if that happens, it gets listed on their buyers net (forget the proper name for that)
I'm doing a few things to get the word out, but I'm my own worst enemy at not being a self promoter no matter how much I believe in what I put together.

I know what you mean Richard. I grew up (in the UK) believing that to "blow one's own horn" was crass in the extreme. Never brag. ;D It's hard to shake those instilled in childhood, and in this case, largely cultural, beliefs.

"The Book Media Group is a newly formed book club. Our website needs content and for a limited time, we are offering published authors the opportunity to post their book on our website. If this is something that you would like to take advantage of, please let us know and we will send you the proper forms to sign and will arrange to have your a photo of your book and a summary of the contents posted to our website.. There are absolutely NO gimmicks.... we value good reading material.
The site is still a work in progress and will not be launched until we have adequate books from various categories.... in other words we need good content in order to launch the site. The website will have a blog section, giving readers a chance to comment on the books posted. If you have writers that simply want to promote there published works our staff will review the summary of the book to determine the adequacy of the material for our site. All authors will have the the right to remove their book(s) from our site during the free promotion period if they are no longer interested in our promotion support. Please send me a list of interested authors from your group and I will arrange to send the release paperwork."
Anyone interested should contact Forrest Casey at: freebookadvertisingforauthors@gmail.com
