Ouch! It's barbaric and needs to be stopped.

I'm against female circumcision, because of the health consequences involved. I haven't really heard of any health complications with the male side of things, so I'm kinda on the fence. However, I will state this, it's all down to perspective. Sometimes something seems reasonable to people due to upbringing and/or religion whilst to others it may be viewed as something horrific.
For example, one day, whilst in class the topic of body piercings came up. I noted that, due to my culture, I had my ears pierced at 10 months old and I was far too young to remember the experience. My teacher stared at me with horror and declared it to be something "barbaric and disgusting to inflict upon a child." Needless to say I had detention for the rest of the week for furiously defending my heritage (with the help of a few swear words.) It shocked me, at the time, that something that seemed perfectly reasonable and innocent to me, could be looked upon with horror and distaste.
If there are no health complications, then fine, continue on with the religious ceremony. If there are, then put a stop to it.

Female circumcision is always bad, there's no valid reason for it except to turn the poor kid into a eunuch, and visit urinary problems on her as well. It's totally different from male circumcision which does no such thing, in fact, it can enhance sexuality. The foreskin can cause a lot of problems, and also for reasons of hygiene, it's not such a bad idea to snip it. But I do believe it should be done by a physician in a sterile setting.
