I need to put up an author bio on Amazon. Here is what I have. Any thoughts?
Author Bio
John Walker is an English teacher with a Masters degree in Education. He is also a professional magician and inspirational speaker. In his free time he trains for and runs marathons and plays in No-Limit Texas Hold-Em tournaments. He lives in Northern New Jersey with his wife Molly, his 14 year old son Adam and an overweight dachshund named Bob.

I like it, John. I really can't see where any improvement could be made.

Frogger. I agree an formerly suckup to Lily. It is stark, almost a list of formal facts and un human like. I am wondering if you want to reise it from apparent 3rd person to first person. What do you enjoy? Do you win marathons, how close to 37,000th do you really get and are yo getting better or the fields slower? How much are you ahead or behind in the Holdem? I play socially online for free and hat shows thru a lot of the time.
Does Bob still chew only one of a pair of slippers or shoes or have you been cured of that by putting them away properly in the first lace? If you look at my website, it is a poor example of such, but I believe it is still there, I approach the whole Author BIO and 'who is he?' with as much humor as it can stand. I have had two positive indications about the humor on the site which is probably 100% of the sample.
If you are not a natural humorist, try it anyway, post some in here and we can run the humorous eye all over it and crit away to our hearts content. The main reason I am pushing you so hard in this direction is that it seems loyal customers can easily become stalkers . . . oops, didn't mean to say that yet. Where is the twink? I feel they want to know something, sort of private that casual or non readers of your won't know. That gives them the inside edge to 'know' their favorite writer.
Your is a list, possibly boring but I didn't find it that way, what I feel it lacks is the attempt to personally connect with the oddballs out there who really need and like this. Never give your home address, and when using an email, don't use one of your favourites as you may well lose it to spam. Been there, done that.
Perhaps the marketing people can explain what it is I think I mean. I think even the great people, in every field sometimes get caught up in their own hype. After all, we all have to sit down to use the toilet and we, generally, all have to use toilet paper. I think that is a great leveler . . . so you write million dollar books eh? How do you handle heat rash on a baby on a tropical island with killing the sod?' We usually have a bunch of unique skills but at the end of the day, we all have to sit down in the little house on the Prairie! hahahahaha <HUGE CHEESY GRIN>
