I'm still working on my MS and won't be looking to publish for a while yet but I would like to ask a very simple question about E-publishing.
Have I crossed my wire or is it as simple as it sounds?
Write, edit, revise, polish and publish?
Someone somewhere must be approving something somewhere.
Is it as simple as I perceive it to be or not?

Yup, pretty sure it's that simple, P
That's why it's still not looked at as favorably as traditional publishing. I'm on the fence about all of it. I love the idea of taking my career into my own hands, but if I would have published my ms that I thought was amazing last year, I would have put out crap! I've grown that much as a writer.
So, I see both sides.

It stills seams very strange to me.
Is there anything in place to prevent Joe and Janey Yahoo from publishing huge stinky piles of stinky poo?
What a fantastic opportunity this presents us!
Master your craft...and let your words soar above the heads of the ignorant...
Sweet!

I agree with you and Amy. I was on that fence until very recently, warmed up by this e-pub option as the last resort. Then, for some reason, an opinion of a one traditionally published writer (on seminar on WN) tipped my balance. Then this forum served the final, knocking me off my comfortable perch up there on the fence. I hope I've made a correct decision. But what Amy said is the exact reason why I'm agitated and nervous instead of being pleased. It's not like getting published a traditional way. It's not a triumph, but just a beginning I guess .

The computer was invented sometime around 10 BC. The internet was plundered from Jerusalem and returned to Britain sometime during the last crusade.
After a very long ice age Bob Dylan told me that the times they are a changing.
E-publishing will become the standard in our life time. Now excuse me while I go and listen to The Grateful Dead on my 8 track.

Like everything else there are both positives and negatives about self publishing. But with the market as it is today, I think it's the only sensible way for a writer to go. Times change, and if we don't recognise that we'll be left behind. The lines between published and self published today are so blurry that it's become a non issue.
In the past month, I've self published four titles. I feel very excited about this, because for the first time I have full control over my own work. I'm proud of it too, because I designed the covers as well.(pride) ;D

Excellent Lily. What are the titles? Sorry, Pariah, that would give away my real identity, which I'd prefer to keep private.
