Hey Where Writer's Meet.

I'm afraid I can't lay a claim to fame at the moment for getting anything published but...damn it, I'm trying!

I'm a young amateur writer named Ben Dodge who's trying to break into professional writing as a hobby, a passion, and a career.

Currently, my only stories published are two short ones (I've got about six or seven sitting on various writing sites); one's in a writing contest for my hometown, another's sitting in a to-be-published edition of WritersBeat's e-zine. I'd love to get some advice for editing and publishing- currently, I'm focusing on short stories, while trying to write a novel in my spare time.

Currently, I'm perusing the submission calls threads and checking out the site. I'd love to be able to get advice from those on here who've been published and those who just love to write.

Hi Ben, and welcome to WWM. It's great to have you here. And do try to set up a blog where you can post all your info. Publishers expect a writer to have some sort of an on-line presence these days.

Stick with it Ben. It takes guts and determination to make it in ths business, especially since the old paradigms of publishing have been tossed out the window by the net.

I haven't been doing much writing lately, kinda feel what the heck's the use with the pub industry being the way it is now.
