Grace ( My fav sis ) and I have been working hard to get her book together. Because we live in different countries doing this has been a little hard. But, being the goggle addicted person I am I did some digging and found some News articles that led to links that lead to a website which lead to an Email address. End of story Once Printed Grace's Cook Book will be on the shelves of Irish National Heritage sites!( historic sites that tourists visit. ) YOU GO GIRL!!!!! More Details later.

That sounds great, BL. Congratulations to both you and your sister. Way to go! It's so important to have at least some idea who your audience is likely to be before you even start writing a book. Anything that appeals to a cultural group -- in this case the Irish -- is always a good choice. An example of this is Zoe's book, "The Cahokian," which is doing well according to Amazon ratings. The story is about Indian tribes in the US. It was pitched to them via their forums, etc, and they showed interest. You might also like to post details about the cook book on forums like Irish Abroad. www.irishabroad.com/discussions/And newspapers like The Irish Times. www.irishtimes.com/search/index.html?rm=listresults&filter=datedesc&keywords=cookbooks&x=0&y=0I'm looking forward to seeing the book. Has the cover been done yet?

No we are formatting things before she starts looking for an agent. Researching those as well... Also looking at other books of a similar type to see what is included or excluded to make sure all the bases are covered. One would think a cook book is easy enough to produce but... no, not really. LOL I'm happy for her. And glad that I am obsessed with google searching random things. I really hope that she gets a lot out of it. Thanks for the links We will have to check those out!

No we are formatting things before she starts looking for an agent. Researching those as well... If you already have outlets that will display the book, I don't see the point in bringing an agent into it. They drag things out for years and years, you lose control of your own product, and you probably won't get any more money out of it. In fact, you could get a lot less.

Why not self-publish, since you already have a ready made market? You can do it all on Lulu for free. You want to keep the expenditure down to a minimum.

Err... ? Self pub on-line would work for everything but the historical sites. (gift shops) They would need a physical book. Print on demand would not work the cost would kill the effort. Or am I missing something? Not feeling well so not firring on all pistons over here.

I know this isn't what you are looking for, but it is a good place to estimate costs for someone to print a personal cookbook, or produce them yourself to put on the shelves. www.morriscookbooks.com/ordering/step-by-step.cfmThey promote publishing for fundraising efforts.
