We've installed an Amazon widget to highlight books written by our members. If you have a book you'd like included please contact us. There is also now the option of listening to music while you're here. The player is at the foot of the forum. You can switch it on or off at any time. If you have a favourite piece of music you'd like added just let us know.

Thanks Richard and BlueLotus, glad you like them. I found an instrumental on piano, BlueLotus, and added it. Is this what you had in mind?

Great idea, BL, about the writing challenges. I've started a new sub board of Critiques for this category, and moved your post there.

I added a tune for you as well, Richard. I know you'll like. :-)

That's cute, Richard. Nice tune too. I've added both to the play list. I've also made the control buttons yellow, much easier to see.

Re: The music player. Because it's operated manually -- the last thing we want is to have music blasting out as soon as someone comes onto the site -- it doesn't play continuously, but stops whenever you click on a link. The only way around this would be to have it open in a popup window, but with so many people having popup blockers, that's unlikely to be such a good option. It could also be annoying because if they want to turn it off, first they'd have to find the popup window again. There are frames, but they can cause problems, and I don't think a music player is worth the risk. There's also streaming, of course. But as it's basically a site for writers, rather than musicians, I think just giving people the option of clicking on and listening to a few tunes and watching the videos before, or after they start browsing is the way to go. It's nice and non-intrusive. Besides, people who like listening to music while on the computer, will already have their own playing.

You know that is a valid point I always have my music blaring while I am working... Annys my neighbors because I "Sing" Off key really loudly! But eh at least they can't hear the music.
