Have any of you all had any luck with a personal website, or blog helping with sales of your books? Are they worth the effort? Doesn't seem like there is many ways other than that, or social sites, to do any promoting.

Horseman, I tried to put my book out everywhere I could think of, including building a website. If I'm not mistaken, your book just came out.
Be patient. It is a lifetime commitment.
There are many ways to promote socially, but I haven't had the success I hear others having. I am still selling steadily with little to no advertisement. It took a few months to get going.
Contact your local independent book stores and see if they will work something out with you to carry your book.
Again, be patient. Think years, not weeks or months. Some writers don't generate much in sales until they have several books out. If someone comes across one, and they like it, they will probably purchase others and recommend your work to others.

Thanks Richard. I think your right. This is probably a good time to get going on a new work and practice a little patience in letting the methods of promoting, I've chosen, do their job.
