Roxy mentioned on another thread about people taking poetry for more than it is, instead of realizing it is just fantasy, or at least experiences so few and far between that it is not the norm. I know someone who is so into Sci/fy, that it is all he watches, reads about, and role plays with friends and others at conventions. He associates real life behaviors with those in the fictional world. Many think he is strange, he is, but I can also see that is how he correlates what he experiences in real life. I know some women who read romance and try to find that someone who acts like Derrick Darling from the novel. Sorry girls, it is a needle in a haystack. One of my co-workers wrote a romance novel 90,000 words long. I said, "No romance ever lasts that long." ;D Anyone else know of people who try to cross the words of fantasy into their real life? At least to any significant extent?

It's the unreal expectations that cause so much trouble. The mistaken belief/fantasy that there is that special someone/soulmate out there for everyone. Aw puleaze. ;D There is no such thing as a soulmate. What they're looking for is a mirror image of themselves! Nothing we need to make us happy is "out there," it's all within. To look for happiness outside of ourselves is a bit like dropping our keys inside the living room and going outside, under the street light, to look for them.
