Not to be unsympathetic, but I never could understand women who stick around for abuse. Another option with this ongoing problem is simply not to have a male in your life at all. Problem solved. www.futureswithoutviolence.org/

Yeah you have a point, you'd miss a lot of good times though, but hten it could be argued that you'd also miss the bad ones as well. what really burns me is how these women come across as so ruddy helpless. They're adults, no?

As soon as the "benefits" begin, then it's no longer a friend, but, (biologically speaking), a mate. Hence, expect to be plagued by the same complications and angst you sought to avoid.
