If this is the wrong part of the board for this query about writing, I apologize. But I was just curious if anyone could suggest a better cover software for self-published novels than ones I've tried. I was using Adobe's CCS6 (after sampling CCS5 after an earlier point) and was leasing it until forced to cancel the agreement due to insufficient funds for that late last year and cannot afford to buy the software even from Amazon.com at its cheapest price (somewhere around $600). Since then I've been forced to use Word 2007 but it is less than excellent (CCS6 was much better), especially when I cannot add color to the cover file once saved as a PDF file and must make any basic Word cover white with color illustrations. Are there any affordable options out there with something closer to the quality of Adobe CCS6?
