my stories have the same origin. I'd been putting them on my blog totally unedited (with warning to that effect), they became fairly popular and I have people asking for them to be done properly so I edited three for girls with Mlly the Story Fairy and three for boys with her twin brother Billy.

here's some flash, hope you enjoy....
Dan in the Diner
What could he tell himself? That he had grown old, tired and thin?
Leslie, under the silence of silverware in trays, plates in stacks, as if in a dream: I got a little fresh ham saved for you.
Twelve years: is that a long time? Everyday, nearly. She's not so attractive.
Nice of you, but not tonight. Buzz of neon. Can I touch your hand? His blood pulsed hard as he spoke.
Leslie quivered, unseen. Had this job a long time, Dan. Need to finish closing up. Room's just a few blocks away. Can you wait?

i used to edit flash for a website. the deal there was to write a complete story, and keep it 100 words or less (now the wusses upped it to 200 words). i wrote a bunch of these for a few years, and always tried to nail it at exactly 100 words, excluding title. a fun exercise. most of my stuff was either sad, or raunchy, lol.
i copied the above "flasher" from an archive, and am not sure how it was originally presented, about seven years ago - whether italics or quotes were used.
