Just found this forum because I was looking at the free forums ... most appear to have died or stagnated but WWW seems still active which is great because I am also a writer.
Forums die because their members can't be bothered posting, then even when there's no activity instead of posting something and keeping it afloat they complain that it's dying. Brilliant! The inevitable happens and they wonder why.

Which one? You do know I have 21 completed in a series featuring my five man military spec ops team, don't you? Well, strictly speaking the teams are a minimum of six per team but these five were that special they covered all the required skills, twice at least, so if a member dies on deployment they still have all skills covered.
I have three started or completed in the second series. I don't really know where that is going so I can't get motivated to know where I should take them and what I should do.
Book 21, the final in the first series is so spectacular I can't change a single word of it. The result there is so dramatic that there is realistically no way to write an effective book 22. Still, that I do have a premise for the second series, which I feel is rock solid and not just a rehash of what is in series one, but I can't get inspired with what to write, to create. I have nothing to write at this stage.
The only obvious ending of series two at this time is to kill the MC. I don't know if I could emotionally do such a thing. That would certainly prevent any further series on that type of subject. Anything new would need to be so different that nothing pops up at all.
One thing I do notice with a lot of writers is that many of them are working on THE BOOK. The one of their life. Book one was originally complete at 124k words, then I was told no one would publish a new author at that size, it had to be 80k or so. I eventually edited it back to 81k I think and it is published, in print and online. I can't say it is a raging success. I haven't reached my natural market, obviously. I have no idea what I need to do next to promote it.
I recently, about two months ago, got a call from a new rep from the publisher who indicated that they wanted to promote it and get some or more sales. maybe they have a boss who doesn't agree as I haven't heard back from the one call. I don't know what to think about that.
So Jack, what is your genre? Do you have anything for me to read? Rereading my stuff is enjoyable for me, to an extent. I guess I have written so much that each reread, so far, appears to be newish to me. I may know the basic story but the detail usually feels brand new. Sort of. ALSO, surprise surprise, I like the way the guy writes and what they write seems perfect for me and my taste. <GRIN>
Come on, someone get me to read something for you! Careful tho, when I crit I can be brutal, from my POV but you can be assured that every word I give you back is my honest held belief. I may have no talent or track record but if I like it, I will say so.

IF anyone is interested in looking at the book, published and available online, I won't post the info again but I will give you the thread that contains the details and a pic of the book. It is within this forum, I am not trying to drag you off anywhere else. IF nothing else, I would love feedback on first impressions of the cover. Clearly I love it, I did design it and push the exact concept they agreed to and produced, so your opinion is very important to me. Good, bad or indifferent, I truly need to know.
