That's the thing. Six weeks between every update?! (I've published it a little more than a week ago ) On Smash with every purchase you get so detailed account, only the personal info and the picture of the customer is missing, lol. I think maybe to transfer the Amazon account to Smash too, so I can manage them from the same dashboard as well for a little bit of a percent? Would it be wise?

Agree that it's a little awkward to blow your own horn, but also agree that we probably have not much choice but to do it, and do it energetically enough

Is there any way I can track my sales (if there are such. Optimistic, am I? ;D) more frequently that once a month (or a quarter!)?
Damn it, it's been a week and I have no idea what's going on. I even stopped clicking on Amazon recently, not like I'm clicking on Smash to see what's up...
I think I gonna add to my signature "HATE AMAZON" lol:D

First of all, you should keep away from an agent who want you to pay upfront. Those are scum. No respectful agent should ask you to pay anything, but a percentage from the future earning of your book. Usually it's 15%, btw. Secondly, I was also under impression that a writer must have an agent. But recently I've heard that maybe it's not so necessary and there are more than few publishers prepared to deal with you with no intermediary. Good luck

I got tired of trying to go the traditional way after about six months of sending a query letter and checking my emails every few hours. I wouldn't give up so easily if, in a meanwhile, I wouldn't have read so many articles about the digital format and the sad future of the traditional industry. At one point I realized that by the time I'll succeed breaking into the traditional industry it may be tottering anyway. So, about a week ago, I went for Amazon Kindle and Smashwords and the challenge of the internet marketing. We'll see :-)

THANKS, Lily!!! I was just pondering if it won't be too pushy to post here, asking for opinions. Thanks :-) Not at all, Zoe. That's what we're here for. Post anything you like. I think your blog looks terrific.

While in love with Smashwords, of course. They are fairly easy to upload, to understand, to track your sells, to edit your stuff. They send me a detailed email with every purchase (not that my email box is swamped by those notifications : , but on every one I can see if it was bought on the full price, or with a discount, or downloaded with coupon (I sent such coupons to the recommended from here reviewers). While Amazon is just impossible to manage, to understand, to track. And worse of all, they won't let me to lower my price or to participate in any of their discount programs (on Smash that's the way I sold a little, by participating in their discount program) as long as I'm sighed for 70% royalties. Only if I agree for 35% they will allow me to manage my pricing (otherwise I can push it up but never down to 2.99, which is way too expensive for a first book of a person with no name, yet ) Do I miss something there? Or is all this correct?

So the goodreads weren't my private discovery? And I got so excited to post here this link, lol
Btw, did you notice that if you enroll into their authors program, they offer you to upload your book in order to sell it there too? Should we try to sell our stuff there too?

I was scared by the length of this excerpt (always happen to me;)), but, given the responses, I scrolled back and in no time was lost in your story. Enjoyed it very much!!!!

Sounds interesting to me (not that I'm an expert on query letters; the opposite is true). And I agree with Richard and Martin. Haunted or tormented may sounds more... convenient, and the fiance deserves a higher place than the third on the list. Good luck

Hope I'm not discovering the already populated America here, lol but I've browsed through goodreads and suddenly saw the way to add my title to their waste database (as Lily said, we need to target the readers' forums, and not the writers' ones). www.goodreads.com/author/programThey have this authors program. And, when unable, for some reason, to import my title from Amazon, I simply added it manually and now it's there, on the goodreads no more no less (not that I did not screw it up alittle by forgetting to upload my cover image, so until they'll answer my email, it's out there coveless and full of shame ;D)
