Hey thanks bubblegum girl! I appreciate you reading it! I've had a lot of help so I can't take all the credit, but thanks. This was really fun to write, and my mom would die if she ever read it. LOL I don't think parents realize how their actions can stick with a child. Thanks for offering the umbrella! www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvBfHwUxHIkI couldn't resist, with all the talk of umbrellas! LOL and I run to this song every morning!

Amy, you paint this so vividly!!! I went crazy over: "Saturday morning's, while most children were watching Smurf's with syrup on their breath from a pancake hangover,"
What a wonderful image! lol ;D and that one: "So there began a yelling match between a resentful wife and a checked out husband, where threats of leaving never to return..."just my sis-in-law life

zoe - you are really too kind to me!!! Seriously! Thank you so much for saying such nice things about my writing. It really means a lot. I do feel like I've turned a sharp corner that I never knew I needed to turn, you know? But I also understand I have a long way to go. I've been a lucky girl to have someone on my side pushing me forward. And also lucky to have you in my cheering section!

@wow, Lily, thanks! I appreciate that. Not sure how much of that is true, but don't we always doubt ourselves as artists? Questioning everything. I guess the day I stop doing that I'll be a success! LOL I've so enjoyed the process of growing, that's the fun part! Thanks again

Amylou This probably doesn't need my comment but because it resonates I wanted to add one. I have written for years working at exorcising demons that followed me home from Vietnam [figuratively]. I am a great fan of in your face stuff like your piece. My method is to get it out and then work at turning it into something worthwhile reading. You did a great job. Maybe a couple of rough spots that you'll find yourself. R.
